We have "In Dulci Jubilo," another bouncy song with an Irish twist vs. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," another sweet song this time with a solo by cute Michael U-R. It's hard to resist his smile at the end. It's so hard to know which one to vote for!

Spread the word! The Buffalo public television station, WNED, is airing Libera's DVD "Angels Sing - Christmas In Ireland" THIS FRIDAY, October 11, 2013 at 8:00 pm and again at 9:30 pm! This can also be seen in western New York State and parts of Ontario, Canada. In Maritime Canada, Rogers customers can watch this WNED broadcast at 9:00 pm on WNED HD. They will all be the first to see the full DVD!

The DVD is only 1 hour long, but it was given a 1.5 hour time slot as part of a pledge drive or fund-raiser for the PBS station. Libera's Leiden video from 2007 was also used by US PBS stations to raise money. For people who don't live in the US, the TV stations usually play the video in sections with the hosts asking for charitable donations to the station during breaks, and donors receive the DVD as a thank you gift.

The Milwaukee public television station, MPTV, is airing Libera's DVD "Angels Sing - Christmas In Ireland" on November 30, 2013 from 5:00 - 6:30 pm! That's the Saturday night of Thanksgiving weekend! :D 

Milwaukee's PBS station has over 900,000 viewers each week with 2.1 million potential viewers! That's a lot of people that could get to see Libera for the first time!

If you live in the US, you can call your local PBS station to find out if they will be using Libera's DVD for a pledge drive! If you have friends in the US, ask them to call! The more we ask for it, the better the chances it'll be used! I'm going to call our Chicago PBS station today!

Gifts for Libera Boys

Gifts I got them for Taiwan tour

Here's a heads-up to anyone going to a Libera concert. Libera's web site has a section called "Frequently Asked Questions." It answers things like why you can't find Libera albums in every country (but you can still order online) and whether or not you can buy the sheet music to their songs.

But I never noticed this one section before - Gifts. It says

When we are on tour we find supporters like to give gifts to the boys. This is a lovely thought and the boys are always delighted to receive them. But some gifts are not suitable. When we are on tour we have very strict aircraft baggage allowances and getting large items home safely is challenging.

Increasingly we have to be aware of food allergies and when we are overseas we can not be sure what ingredients food and sweets may contain.  So we ask supporters:

• please do not give sweets and other foodstuffs
• please do not give large items

My mom and I like to buy gifts for the boys to give to them at the concerts. It makes them really happy! I always get one gift for each boy and give the same thing to each of them so that no one gets their feelings hurt. I usually have a big bag to put them in, and either I or my mom hand it to a chaperone during a Meet & Greet or after a concert. I didn't realize that so many of the boys have food allergies, though. During the Taiwan concerts, the staff told my mom that because of their allergies, they can't risk giving the boys candy or food gifts anymore. My gifts are never big, but I can imagine that getting 40 of anything would take up a lot of room in the suitcases. So it makes sense to give gifts that are smaller. Guess I won't be getting them those Mexican sombreros! lol.

So if you're going to see them in the Philippines or London, remember no food, keep it small, and try not to leave any boys out. :)

Libera Philippines Advertising

This is the TV commercial that is currently playing for Libera's concerts in the Philippines!

Another Libera fan from the Philippines named Milet shared a picture of a Libera ad in her newspaper! This is great! Hope lots of people get to go to the Manila & Cebu concerts!

There's an article about Libera at an online site called Inquirer.net. It tells how Cebu just had an earthquake that killed many people and destroyed some of the old churches. It says that organizers "expect the boys' choir to provide a musical balm to the physical and psychological scars of the Visayans." I hope so, too!

It also says that the Philippine concerts "are part of a broader Asian tour, 'Libera, Asia's Best-Loved Boys' Choir,' that will also take them to Japan and South Korea." So is this a hint of future concerts in Japan and South Korea?! I wonder when those will be? :D

Two entire songs will be shown per week, and you pick your favorite. The winner moves on to the next round. There will be 3 rounds with 8 songs in all, and then 1 winner will be chosen. What's your favorite? You might change your mind once you see them all. :D
