Libera Is Going to the Channel Islands!!!

Libera just announced their Summer Tour!

We are delighted to announce that we will be performing in the Channel Islands over the summer, with concerts on 1st and 2nd August on Jersey and 7th and 8th August on Guernsey. More details coming shortly.

Wow! Did anyone guess they'd be going there? A few years ago I met a kid at Disney World from Guernsey. We rode on the Kali River Rapids with his family, and they were very funny. Hey... you! Hope you like Libera! Cause they're coming to your island! Yeah, I'd better do some more research.

Roberto de Ocampo Honored by Queen Elizabeth

Congratulations to Dr. Roberto de Ocampo for receiving an honorary OBE (Order of the British Empire) medal from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II! The British ambassador to the Philippines, Stephen Lillie, gave him the medal for his significant contribution to the development of UK-Philippines relations for over more than 40 years. Mr. Ocampo is now an honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

That's Mr. Ocampo sitting on the floor with the boys! :D

Libera fans know Mr. Ocampo as the man who brought Libera to the Philippines for concerts in October 2009, April 2010 and October 2011. He also helped with the Singapore April 2012 concerts.

You can read the British Embassy in Manila's full press release here. Thank you to Martin for the info! :D

Sam Leggett's Music

Did you know that when he's not working on Loose Moose episodes, Sam Leggett likes to compose and perform music? Now he has 13 songs for sale on a site called Gumroad.com. You can see Sam's sale page here. Each song is £0.99.

If you want to hear what all his songs sound like, he has posted them on Soundcloud here.

"Emotional Tune" & "Chase" were written for an upcoming film by Ben Philipp! In "Humoresque" you can hear him playing the cello!
Sam plays the piano in "The Little Shepherd. " He's really good for playing only one year. And I love Debussy! I played "Jardins Sous La Pluie" and "Pour le Piano - Prelude" for recitals! :D

The "Animalia" suite of songs reminds me of Saint-Saens' idea for "Carnival of the Animals." And in "AS Performance" you can hear him singing two songs! He still has a great voice!

Way to go, Sam!

Other boys have Soundcloud accounts, but I don't think their songs are for sale yet.

Liam Connery has 10 songs here. I love his singing on "Last Goodbye!"

Daniel Fontannaz has 3 songs here.

Jakob De Menezes-Wood has 14 songs here.

Japan Commemorative Album #1 Again!

Well, I don't know what happened, but Japan has done it again! Libera's "Japan Commemorative Edition Album" is #1 on the Billboard Japan charts again! Congratulations Libera and Japan! :D

It's been 3 months since the album was first released. Was there a recent or special Libera promotion in Japan? Kavana tweeted a week ago that he just finished filming for a show in Japan. He wasn't sure which show, but it was great fun, and to look out for them. Did it have something to do with that?

We know that ice skater Mao Asada recently skated to Libera's "I Vow To Thee My Country." This song is on the album. Did that make sales go up?

If anyone in Japan sees anything on TV, radio or in the newspaper, please let us know! Thank you to Patrick for the info! :D

Liam O'Kane Interview

Wow! It's been 2 years since I wrote about what Liam O'Kane is doing now! You can read my old posting here. Liam is still doing really well in music. Yesterday, an online magazine called Leftlion posted a nice article about him that you can read here. Thank you to Fan de LoK for the link! :D

Liam's fans will be happy to know that he'll be headlining at The Nottingham Playhouse on June 16, 2012 from 8:00-9:30pm.

Liam as an Angel Voices chorister.

Libera fans in general will be happy to read what Liam said about his days in Angel Voices (now called Libera). I'll post those parts here in case the article ever gets deleted.

Please tell us about your choirboy days...I joined the choir when I was eight, at the time they performed under the name Angel Voices. The first thing I did with them when I joined was to spend three months at Pinewood Studios recording a series with Thora Hird. I was on two out of three Angel Voices albums. The choir later went on to perform under the name Libera. I recorded a lot of the solos on the first album and then my voice broke. It was an amazing part of my life; I got to do so many things and meet some incredible people.

You were in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet, right? Well, my voice is. The Choir recorded some of the sound track at Abbey Road. We sing the backing to the soloist in the church [Everybody’s Free]. They never flew us out for the filming, so the choir in the film mime over us.

And you still have fans keeping an eye on you around the world?
The Choir's now world famous as Libera. Robert Prizeman the director is a genius and has created his own modern style of choral music. Having sang a lot of the solos on the first album I get a lot of people searching for videos and things of me singing back in the day, but they also find what I do now. Some people really enjoy what I do now but I appreciate it's very different from the choir days.

It's so nice what he said about Mr. Prizeman! And Liam was in Angel Voices for a long time! Age 8 - 15!

If you'd like to see Liam in concert, ticket information for The Nottingham Playhouse is here.

Stefan Leadbeater & Orlando Woscholski In An Opera

Stefan in Singapore, April 2012

Orlando in Houston, August 2011

Exciting news! Stefan Leadbeater (current Libera member) and Orlando Woscholski (former Libera member) are currently performing in the opera "The Cunning Little Vixen" by Janacek at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera 2012, Lewes, East Sussex, England from May 20 - June 28.

The June 10 performance was filmed by the UK Guardian, and you can watch it here in two parts until June 22. Thank you to Martin for the link! :D

Orlando first appears as a Frog in Part 1 at 10:55.

Stefan first appears as Pepik, one of The Forester's sons, in Part 1 at 20:42.

Pepik's father, The Forester, captures a young fox and brings it home. His two sons begin teasing it.

Pepik hits the Vixen, and she becomes angry.

The Vixen retaliates by biting off Pepik's leg. A knife is used to symbolize her teeth.

Orlando next appears as one of the Vixen's many cubs.

Orlando is on the far left.

Orlando then appears at the end as the Frog's grandchild to illustrate the cycle of life.

Taking their final bows.

Orlando listed in the final credits as Frog.

Stefan listed in the final credits as Pepik.

Orlando listed in the final credits as a Fox Cub.

Congratulations to both boys on doing such a great job!

Several reviews have been written already, but this one also gives the cast listing here. If anyone would like to purchase tickets to see this opera, you can get information here.

Goodbye High School, Hello Summer!

Hi, everyone! I'm back from my busy senior year of high school! I took my final exams, went on our Senior Trip to Philadelphia, New York City and Washington DC, and graduated from high school! Woo-hoo! It was all really fun! :D I got a summer job babysitting my buddies Nick & Nate. They come to my house every day. Now I have time once again to revel with you in all things Libera! :D

Well, all the fans are excitedly watching for an announcement of a Libera Summer tour. In the past few years Libera has announced it during the third week of June, so it should be any day now. Of course, everyone in the US wants them to come back here, but people in Europe would like a turn, too, and some fans have been working to make that happen. We shall see...
