BBC Songs of Praise 50th Anniversary Concert

Libera will be participating in a special concert celebrating the BBC "Songs of Praise" program's 50th anniversary. It will be on Sunday, September 25th in London's Alexandra Palace. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the concert recording is 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available here. The concert will be broadcast on BBC One in early October.

Aled Jones will be the host with special guests tenor Andrea Bocelli and mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins leading a sing-along of over 6,000 voices. Libera will be in the 200-person choir on stage along with previous winners of the BBC Songs Of Praise School Choir of the Year and members of the Royal School of Church Music Millennium Youth Choir.

BBC's website states that "there is also an exciting opportunity for experienced four-part harmony singers to attend, as part of the Songs of Praise massed choir, to help lead favourite hymns and songs from designated seating in the audience in the Great Hall at Alexandra Palace. If you are a good, enthusiastic singer and would like to take part, please request an application form by emailing us at: songsofpraisefifty@bbc.co.uk or by calling 0161 244 3473."

Wow! How exciting would that be to be there AND to get to sing along!

I have already booked my place and hotel and everything to go to London on that weekend :)

Seats are unreserved, and I don't know at what time start the queueing, I have no experience of this kind of show.

  3. Hi, Fan de LoK! So excited that you are going! Can't wait to hear from you how it went!

Hi, Anon! I haven't found anything yet that tells what songs they are singing. I think it will be a lot of hymns and church songs, since that's what the Songs of Praise programs tend to highlight. I'm sure Fan de LoK will let us know as soon as it is over. :)
